Public Programs

Asolo Rep’s public programming allows community members to investigate the important social questions inherent in our plays. Join us for an array of programs designed to dive deeper into the perfomances you love.

Audience Extras

The Scoop – Arrive one hour prior to curtain to get “The Scoop,” a 20-25 minute presentation from a member of the cast or staff. The Scoop may share information about the preparation, context, and/or inspirations for a production. Because these events are prior to the performance, they generally do not directly address the plot of the play, but they can explore time period, given circumstances, creative influences, biography of key figures, rehearsal process, etc. The Scoop happens every performance, except Opening Nights. FREE EVENT

Tuesday Talkbacks – Every week one or two selected cast members join a conversation after the play, out of costume. Discussions are facilitated by staff, and typically last 30-40 minutes. The facilitator offers some initial, specific questions for both the audience and for the actors, and then will generally open the floor for audience questions. Except in the Historic Asolo Theatre, these events are held on the mezzanine lobby, so actors and audience are together in a more conversational space. FREE EVENT

Meet the Actors – on select Sunday matinees, cast members – sometimes all of them – remain in costume for a brief Q&A onstage. These last 15 minutes, and tend not to go into as much depth as the Tuesday Talkbacks. FREE EVENT
